Boston's Emerald Necklace: Leverett Pond & Olmsted Park

Water, paths, and trees, often hidden, on a bright sunny wintry day.

Winter Light along the Emerald Necklace, February 4, 2017, near noon

Two American Sycamore trees
and one huge Beech
stand majestically on Pinebank Promontory, overlooking Jamaica Pond.
In the sharp light of winter, the two blaze.
I am struck with awe. Are
these trees illuminated this brilliantly in
other seasons, at other moments,
in other winters?

Doubtful.
Why?
Because I radiate my own unique winter light
on them, relishing them, adoring them,
honoring them, coating them
in my own wintry glow.

I touch them
reverentially,
And feel the light I emit, they emit,
pass from them to me, me to them. The
light of this particular winter, this particular day,
this particular person, from my own state of mind.
