Boston's Emerald Necklace: Jamaica Pond

Sunrise with the Winter Light photographic workshop

Early morning at Jamaica Pond (by Skip Schiel)

One half hour before sunrise
the winter light is cold blue, the boney trees
solid against the mottled sky.

Morose, that look, some might think,
funereal, the trees dead.

No, merely resting, awaiting
the resurrection of spring.

Sun up, the shore sycamores
rebroadcast the sun’s golden light.
